Ambrosia Mae is a restored 1965 classic lapstrake 32’ Chris Craft Seahawk with a Flying Bridge. She has undergone an extensive refit, with all work completed by her present owner, who has owned her since 1986. The boat is extremely well equipped and is in outstanding mechanical and cosmetic condition. She has her original GM Chris Craft FWC 327F engines, which have been professionally balanced and rebuilt, with 0 hours on each engine, giving her a cruising speed of 21kts and a top end of 25kts.

The hull has been refastened from the boottop to the keel. The original gunwhales have been replaced with 6/4 Philippine mahogany, and have eight rod holders installed. The transom has been replaced and is bright finished Philippine mahogany. The foredeck has also been replaced. In 1999, I removed the Flying Bridge from the boat temporarily, completely rebuilt the hard top, and rewired and replaced the flying bridge. Access to the flying bridge is via a chrome and teak fold up ladder, which stows up and out of the way, and opens up the usable area in the cockpit substantially. There is a teak swim platform. She has a rebuilt steering system and the fuel tanks and lines have been replaced. She is equipped with 3 Rule 2000 bilge pumps with float switches and one Rule 3800 with a float switch built up on a pedestal as an emergency pump. The boat has a raw water washdown system in the cockpit. She includes a hands-free Simpson-Lawrence windlass mounted on a custom built teak bowsprit, which may be operated by dual controls in the flying bridge and at the lower console. There is a new Ongaro 122Db dual trumpet horn mounted on the flying bridge.

Ambrosia Mae has a respectable array of electronics, including a modern Raytheon RL72RC Radar/DGPS/Chartplotter, 2 VHFs, Hailer-Intercom, Recording Fish Finder, and a dedicated Floscan fuel system for each engine.

The cabin sleeps 4 quite comfortably in a v-berth and 2 bunks, which also fold down and serve as a settee. The dinette can also be converted into a fifth berth. All cabin cushions have been replaced and professionally upholstered.

There are two rod racks, which will accommodate eight rods, overhead in the cabin. The well-lit cabin is equipped with a Mermaid 12,000 btu Reverse Cycle Air/Heat, a new legal head and holding tank system with Y-Valve and macerator, a rebuilt DC refrigerator, rebuilt original alcohol stove, and pressure water to two sinks.

The lower station mahogany console has been refinished, and the original gauges have been professionally restored and re-chromed by Pat Powell, a 30+ year gauge specialist with Stewart/Warner. The mahogany and chrome wheel has been completely restored. In addition to the cosmetics, the console has been rewired, replacing all fuses with 3 separate Paneltronics Circuit Breaker panels.

The boat has three batteries, including a dedicated house battery for the refrigerator and radar, all maintained by a hardwired Battery Charger system. The A/C electrical system has been completely replaced with a modern marine grade circuit breaker panel and new ABYS approved wiring throughout the boat.

Ambrosia Mae lies at New Haven, CT, and is available for viewing and sea trial for those seriously interested. $12,000.00
