Thread: Rope hangers?

  1. #11

    Re: Rope hangers?

    o.k. "dock lines" my bad.

Yeah I used to keep lines in a deck box....... Until that one time last year when one of my transmissions dropped out backing out of the slip. It was a scramble getting lines back ready.

Since then I like to have lines at all 4 corners of the boat ready to go. Hence the question.

I've tried tying the lines to the rails, but they inevitably hang to low and end up sort of dragging on the deck. Plus where the mahogany rails are, the storm boards are too close to the hand rails to tie a rope cough "dock line" around. Maybe if I get energetic I can mill something up. Sounds like a fun project.

Technically, not sure Bob was in error; if the ropes were not attached to a cleat.
Just sitting in a rope locker or suspended in a rope hanger, un-attached & awaiting a use, they are ropes.
Lengths of ropes become lines when in use.

If they were cleated at each corner of the boat, then they were lines and Bob requires a ribbing.
Thanks Ralph, I earned the ribbing haha!

o.k. I don't know how this will end up looking, but I found 1" hand rail clamp on rail fitting
"T's" and some tubing and plastic end caps. I can just cut the tubes to lengths, maybe 3 or 4 " long and bolt it all on.

Not sure how it will look but I will post pic's when I get it put together.

I can then hang my "ropes" haha.
