Transmission oil

I have a 1979, 53 foot MY and I have changed all the oils and filters. Can anyone tell me how much oil should the transmission hold? I have 8V71 TI’s with Allison transmissions.

I just looked in my manual and it says 6 quarts for the M series and 6.5 quarts for MH. It also says "approx" next to each listing. Make sure you check them warm and with engines running. If I remember correctly mine are above the full mark when cold.

on my 46 i use to start with 1 gallon then add until to the full mark at idle and warmed up. after you get it to the full mark when at idle and warm, shut it down and let it sit overnight. check it cold and not running, etch a mark at that level so when you do your checks they dont have to be warm and running
