58’ Hatteras turbo to non turbo

I have Detroit 871TI engines and wondering what is needed to change turbo to non turbo , I know I will need smaller injectors and of course exhaust piping. I plan on doing inframe on both engines also, not concerned about doing 18-20 knots ! Thanks and Best Regards Alan

Re: 58’ Hatteras turbo to non turbo

    New pistons.
Turbo engines use approx 14.5:1 compression ratio pistons. Naturals, (non-turbo) use 16.5 to 17: 1 ratio pistons.
My numbers may not be exact but there is a difference of 2 to 2.5 increase.

Pending the tune; cam timing adjustment.

You may need more battery power to turn these engines over in natural mode.
Pending the starter model now, you may need a larger starter.

Then some tall propeller adjustments in reducing pitch.

I have to ask, WHY remove the turbos?
