Hat 53 my transmission oil levels

I am having difficulty establishing the correct level
I know the published instructions about engine running and oil hot but does anyone know the correct mark when engine not running and cold
I assume it’s over the dipstick full mark

What clutch do you have? Allison, TD or ZF?

Check the level while running and hot. Next day after it cools check it again and mark the dipstick.

This may vary between many installs so there is no set cold reference mark on the dip.
On our TD and some of my past customers boats; We would verify the oil per mfg instructions.
Return the next morning, pull the dip and observe that cold high level. You can scribe a line on the dip of this cold level.

During a deployment, I usually check the machinery in the morning anyway, this offers a chance to also check my clutch, in one ER visit.

Clutches move a lot of oil. It lakes a long while for it all to drain back to the sump.
IMO, waiting an hour or two is not going to offer consistent cold levels.

    Hope this helps
