I am removing a Datamarine depth finder and speedometer. They get power from a 32volt transformer from what I can tell. There is 12volts at the units. Just curious if I could just hook up a Simrad Chartplotter to that same power source? Are there any other considerations when connecting to transformer?

Re: Transfomer Question
Check the power rating of the step Down converter and make sure it s big enough for the new plotter. New electronics have become very efficient so chances are it is.

Re: Transfomer Question
Put in a modern dc to dc converter. They have come a long way in the last 30 or 40 years.
I replaced a big old newmar with a victron of larger output and smaller size for less than 20 percent of the cost of the old one.Scott
