    Mid 80s Window removal

Anyone know of somebody who can remove and replace a mid 80s Hatteras salon window in the Galveston Houston area? I’m needing to deliver furniture in salon and it won’t fit through door. TIA.

Never done one but everyone says you just jack it up a bit and it comes right out. A search on here should give you the particulars

Slider or fixed window? Are you removing the glass or the whole frame?

The frames are held in with screws from the outside and 3m 5200, lots of 5200.

    Purchase list:

    Mineral Spirits
    Disposable Shop towels
Plastic body tools-check out the Harbor Freight set with blue and red tools
    Plastic shims
    Razor blades
    Painter tape
    Plastic gloves

Unscrew all of the screws in the frames. Use razor blade to cut around the frame so surrounding paint won’t lift off when the frame comes free. Double tape all the way around the frames to protect the paint. Use the large red tool and hammer to lift the window frames enough to wedge a shim. Do this at intervals around the frame to give enough lift to pull the frame free. My 89’ frames were held in place with butyl tape. There seems to be a moment when the frame just gives up and pulls free. Use the mineral spirts to clean up the butyl mess you will find in places you swear you never touched.

On my 1982 46C the sliding windows are removed by sliding each pane to the center of the frame, lift up and out of the grove removing to the inside of boat.

    Good luck, P
