I went with a friend to look at this yacht:

I told him to buy it, it is really nice. The only thing is the engines have about 4200 hours on them. I've never owned Detroits so is that a lot of hours for those engines?
TIA,
Byron

Looks well sorted. Laminate flooring is a bummer but I can't blame them. Hope the survey goes well!

It depends on which model Detroit diesel, and how they have been used and maintained, but, more than anything else, it depends on the results of engine survey, sea trial, and inspection of the previous maintenance records. Good luck, it looks nice.

650 hp is a fairly conservative rating for 8V-92TAs, which is what these appear to be, so it's possible that they might have a lot of useful life left in them.

Looks like a nice boat the extra beam and side decks are a huge plus
Engine hours are not too much of a worry depending on how they be been run and maintained. Cold starts, survey, oil samples etc should tell a lot.
Nice boat. The laminate flooring is very practical and looks good. No worry about water damage etc. assume it s good quality.Pascal

92s with over 4000 hours? Discount the price of a rebuild to start.
Allison clutches, yep, rebuild them also.
Yea, they may run fine today, end of life is near. Your gamble.
300K$, they have room to come way off.
No need for an ammonia broadcasting contest. These are my thoughts.Last edited by Captain Ralph; 01-20-2023 at 09:59 PM.
