Question How to identify the cause of dissapearing zincs

A dock neighbor has had a problem with his zincs dissapearing in six weeks this spring.

We arrived a the club in June with good zincs and pulled the boat yesterday for survey and found our large and expensive hull zincs were spongy all the way through. That's in just four weeks.

How can I identify the source of the problem. It is not happening fifteen boats away, and I don't think I'm the source of it as a neighbor had the problem before we arrived. A new member is between us and we suspect he is the cause, but don't want to point a finger with out some proof. So what kind of instrument do I need, or can this service be hired?

Does he have an isolation transformer?

He can eliminate HIS boat as the cause by performing the tests I outlined in the post now moved to the FAQ section.

If HIS boat is eliminated then I suggest that outside help be brought in, since identifying a NEIGHBOR boat (or a dock wiring problem) requires both access to the other boat and, potentially, dealing with a dangerous situation (if the dock wiring is leaking current into the water, you definitely don't want to be the "path of shortest resistance!")
