My Dockage went up how much?

I just called my dockmaster to ask about the mistake on my monthly bill. It was $500 more than last month. He informed me that my yearly contract was up and that figure is my new amount. (if I take another year lease) Take it or leave... Up 33%.

Why not go up to Ft. Lauderdale. It looks as if there are a lot of empty slips there.

(BTW dockage is running around $11-13/foot around here monthly...)

That kind of increase just adds fuel to the fire as boat prices seem to be steadly falling fast.

I must be getting a great deal. Covered for $675 and that incl a $100 increase last month.

Re: My Dockage went up how much?

Our dockage is insane here. It is anywhere from $16 to $19 a foot depending on what marina. I guess they are making up for the fact our diesel is $2.50 at the pump as oposed to Ft. Lauderdale where it is $3.77.

We were there last weekend and dockage is cheap on the east coast compared to here, but fuel makes up for it.

Fortunetly we rent a slip from a slip owner (dockaminium) and it is only 600mo plus power.

    $3.77 for fuel?! For DIESEL?!

Yikes! We're still materially under $3.00 up here....

Re: My Dockage went up how much?

$3.10 a gal here, a little more at other fuel docks, a little less at the truck...

Miami BEach marina now advertises REASONABLE rates of $20 annually, $40 seasonal ! at DKM I'm paying $17 incl a live aboard surcharge but that's with a city residnent of 25%... (municipal marina). Add to that outrageous insurance premiums, you really have to love boating !

ridiculous... if it wasn't for the kids or my girlfriend, i'd seriously consider moving out of florida...
