    More engine starter question;

In Jax? Did you shop for the starters? Where from?
50MT, 11 tooth, normal and CCW?

A sister ship (to ours) may be going thru this soon.

I thought 12V-71s turned the same , and prop rotation was determined by the transmission. I know that rotation is on the starter , but I really worry about screwing this up .

12V71-TA with ZF clutches spin the same direction. Lower HP engines can spin counter.
For some reason, DDC made the TA only in normal rotation.

For a laugh, Bertram ordered our 12V71TIs with the engines rotating inward, clutches rotating the props outward.
Yep, like this on many old Bertrams like ours.
    It's a Bertram; SNAFU

Engine serial numbers can also give package order information at a real DDC shop.

Great question. On first install of starters the port engine starter was installed wrong rotation.

After that all has been OK so far.

Yard ordered the starters. I’ll ask about how hard to get and where from.

See other post: port engine starter was backwards on attempt …

The starters are heavy...what steps did you use to change it when against the bulkhead wall?
Sorry for late reply. I didn't supervise the work so can't say. Sorry!

I have looked at these same options.
Delco, at one time had the same part number for some 24 / 32 V armatures.
However, by the time you update the original 32v starter to make work on a 24v boat,
you now have a non-standard (by todays specs) starter with still some used parts.

For us, I decided (barring an emergency), I would shop for and go all new when this time came.

On a better note, The Delco 30SI alternator just needs a new voltage regulator.
