    Well, but Cole-Hersee key switches can handle solenoid amperages and they're very reliable, too. As I said, some Cummins panels come with no push button start at all...just a key.

    As to cost, I'm not so sure a 2-position key switch plus a push start button is cheaper than a 3-position switch. Interestingly, Cummins uses a small on-engine solenoid that's controlled by the key switch to energize the starter solenoid rather than going straight from the key switch to the starter solenoid. Maybe that's why they can just use a key switch...

    My new Cats just use a key switch for start stop; just like cars used to be.

    It's funny how START button's used to be exclusively the realm of old school American iron...now that's all you see, but don't forget where you put the fob!
