    Re: R22 Air compressor

My new salon "self contained" air install project is complete. I'm pleased with the result.

    Looks great!

Just the one outlet up top, kind of the same in and out setup as the old one?

Nicely done, as per your usual, Eric. It looks factory and I like that.

Exactly. We are going to run a small duct off the unit heading aft through the cabinetry to add an AC vent in the aft head.

Thank you. I do plan to refresh the surrounding aging finish so it all matches better.

    Re: R22 Air compressor

Does the new unit have a 'dehumidify' duty cycle option? Some of the new digital ACs have this, very useful.

Wow. I was about to pull the trigger and replace my split units with split units. Now I will definitely be looking into this.Is the compressor noise loud with it located in the salon? How much wood work did you have to do behind the bulkhead?

    Re: R22 Air compressor

The compressor makes no noise. The only noise is from the fan which is minimal. I don't think there was much if any woodwork other than a few 1x pieces for the unit to sit on. The main thing that had to be done back there was to block off the fwd end of the hull side vents which open to that space. Then we added foam pieces to the inside of the return panel to insure that the return air was coming from the cabin and not the space behind the wall which vents to outside air.
