Well, you can get 1/8" afromosia in 4x8 panels, and redo the interior. Won't be cheap, though. Lots of work and lots of materials.

Toughest part would be trim and window sills. You're not likely to strip it to your satisfaction and fabricating new stuff would be daunting.

thanks for the suggestions, but not being very good at finish carpentry, I'd have to hire it out. it'd be more cost effective to find an original boat. there's a beautiful looking on the west coast of fla, but its out of my price range. I'll just keep looking. maybe find that unicorn with cummins repower
