    Wood Type - 1973 38' FBDC

What type of wood is used on the walls of a 1973 38' Hatteras. Would it be Afromosia? Any suggestions on how to make it look good? There is no varnish on it. I've heard of Tung Oil, is that better than Teak Oil? What about a coating of Cetol? Would it be okay to wipe it with 216 or Acetone before application? Thanks.

On my 1973 42c I clean it with Murphy's oil soap and then maintain with orange glow. I'm not a varnisher so this is a program I can live with, not for everyone. My wood work has never had anything on it, I don't think. I would not recommend Cetol but you might like the look, it's your boat. I use Cetol on the outside wood.

In 1973 it was called Mozambique teak.
