    You should try to build up the countertop. Stronger that way and removal is lots of glue, and even a touch of fiberglass in some places. You need to router off the front edge because it's a double lip. I put a strip of thin wood to cover up the existing countertop. (not yet stained or shown in these images). I also cut an angled on a countertop hatch next to the fridge.

    We ended up do this for the sinks. I was really just cutting corners but really like them. We thought the original sinks are too low.

    The prior owner installed matching granite on all countertops in galley, dinette and heads. Looks beautiful

    I overlaid 1/4 teak on top of the counters and made a new kitchen table top from teak.
