Dreaming of a Future Florida Trip - Marina cost range?

Can anyone give me the cost range of transient or summer slip costs around Florida?

I know it's higher than up hear in Michigan, but what kind of range of cost are we talking about?

Just trying to get an idea in case we can some day do the great loop, or half of it and maybe stay in the south for a while, maybe Bahamas who knows!

    Thanks in advance!

Most marinas in FL rent daily, weekly, or monthly. Summer is "off season" (meaning norther boats are back up north) so you shouldn't have an issue finding a spot. As for price just make few calls.

Typical transient (daily) rates run between $3 and $5 a foot per day in SoFl and Bahamas. Central / north Fl will be $2 to $3 a foot.

Some marinas have monthly rates, typically 20/30% off daily transient as well as even more discounted seasonal (6 months)

In the Bahamas you can easily anchor out and dinghy back n forth.

Agree with the above on rates. Be prepared to have a talk with your insurance company to obtain Hurricane (wind storm) coverage, having a written Hurricane plan, etc, etc… depending on coverage, it can significantly increase your Preimum.

Waterway Guide online publishes rates and contact info for marinas and would be a good starting point.

Why would you want to stay in Florida during summer?

Loopers set their schedules to avoid that and spend winters south. That's when you'll have to spend $$$ and will have lots of competition for transient slips. That's why God invented the anchor.

Even in winter I would opt for northern FL or even up into GA and SC if I were looking at doing it in conjunction with the loop. Quite frankly, I would avoid doing the loop with loopers. Otherwise its like volunteering to drive during rush hour vs waiting for traffic to clear, and half of them (generous) are clueless.

I could handle mooring out! Bahamas sure sound good right now. It's 23 degrees F and gusting here in Michigan right now. GRRRRRRR

Yeah I have heard of the rates down there yikes! Might have to wait until boat is paid off and skip the insurance / roll the dice!
