Re: HVAC Circulation pump - Magnetek. How to separate motor from pump end?

On my 58LRC the pump is below the waterline. so maybe not an issue. But I do prefer pumps that can run dry without damage.

Thought the March pumps were magnetically coupled drive,, no seals..

Great company and support. That’s where I got my chiller system.

For those whose pumps may be located above the water line, you should note the following from the March manual....

"Pumps are not self-priming, lack a suction lift, and thus require a flooded suction. Pumps cannot be run dry because the impeller requires the liquid being pumped for lubrication. "

I'm not sure if the Scots pump design is the same or not...
All air con pumps must be installed below WL. None of them are self priming.

Well damn, next time I'm going to ask my question here BEFORE ordering any parts.

So I learned that I can hold the motor shaft (after removing the back cover) with a 3/8" wrench and spin the impeller off (counterclockwise) per information learned from you guys! Thats' the good news.

Bad news is that the P100 Scot pump that arrived has a 6" diameter motor bolt pattern and my existing pump had a 4" diameter bolt pattern, so the new pump will not bolt up to the motor. Will talk to my distributor on Monday and see about exchanging this for the March pump mentioned here.

That $ 610 sale on the March pump must be over as they show $ 645.00 now at that link.

On the original motor is a tag stating the option mounting style or Frame number.
    56J is the standard.
