Don’t just buy a “boat” - join the legendary HATTERAS YACHTS family! Hatteras has been the industry leader in luxury motor yachts for over 60 years, and their yachts were built to withstand the wild Outer Banks waters while also offering the very best in sport fishing utility and luxurious cabin cruiser accommodations.

This vessel was manufactured in 1972, and she has a special place in her heart for 70's music, just so you know. They simply don't make yachts with the same level of quality and craftsmanship as they did back then. An empty shell of a Hatteras from that time is better than most modern boats today. Why? Glad you asked! The quality is in the hull and design. Pure fiberglass hulls helped to make these vessels withstand the tests of time.

Jack Hargrave, who many consider to be the “Godfather of Yachts,” designed these exquisite vessels. Hargrave was an architect in the Navy long before taking an interest in yachts, and he contributed to much of the early and resonating success of Hatteras over the years. But don’t take our word for it - see the Hatteras Difference for yourself.

The Caterpillar 3208 engine was developed in 1975 when CAT collaborated with Ford, and proved very popular during its production run (particularly for motor yachts). Some describe the 3208 engines like "an old Chevy that will run forever if you take good care of it." And we did!

This is a 1972 Hatteras 36 Sportfish Convertible with twin Caterpillar 3208 Turbo diesel engines, Caterpillar MG 506 1.50:1 Twin Disc transmissions, 302 hp per engine (so 604 total horsepower), approx. 3,500 hours. Boat weight is approx. 26,000 lbs. This is a keel vessel with a semi-planing hull. Draft is approximately 3 feet. Speed is 23 knots full and 17 knots cruising. Approximately 1 nautical mile per gallon of fuel. From the rail up has a beautiful coat of Awlgrip, Maxwell Freedom 500 Windlass with new swivel and chain, and a robust Fortress Guardian anchor with rode markers and 230 feet of rode.

As stated before, these specific Hatteras Yachts hulls were built with PURE FIBERGLASS. There is NO wood core in the hull, meaning NO possibility for soft spots in nearly 1” of solid fiberglass, which was how they did it RIGHT in the 70’s. The only wood is in the bulkheads (and the afromosia on plywood interior). Bulkheads and all plywood are solid. The stringers are Foam Filled Fiberglass (No Rot). The only place that softness *could* occur on these vessels is on the top deck areas, and there is none on this beauty. This boat was built very solid and made to last.

There are four tanks onboard: (2) 150 gallon fiberglass fuel tanks under the rear cockpit (so 300 gallons of fuel total), (1) 70 gallon fiberglass water center midship, and (1) 30 gallon fiberglass rear midship (never used). The length is 36’ 1” on paper, but with the bow pulpit and swim platform with incorporated exhausts it actually comes to 41 feet overall. Beam is 12’ 10” and height clearance is approx. 18’ from the waterline to the top of the Shakespeare VHF Antenna and anchor light. Vessel was hauled out in February 2021 with fresh bottom paint.

The Salon features a gorgeous, classic solid teak Ship’s Wheel and solid teak helm station. Interior Salon headroom is 6’ 4”. All new LED courtesy lights replaced the original halogen lights in the Salon. Comes with original Hatteras manual and schematics. The Head features a brand new Raritan Lectra Scan 12V USCG-approved Type 1 Marine Sanitation Device (sea water system) with a Groco macerating toilet. Shower and sink are in perfect working order. There are Bose speakers in the Salon as well as a brand new Dual bluetooth stereo system with 2 waterproof speakers installed on the Flybridge. Perfect for pairing up with your Spotify playlists or you could also use the USB flash drive for music offshore. Flooring is Red Oak Parquet peel-and-stick vinyl for easy, cost-efficient replacement of any spot if necessary.

In the Salon, the factory couch settee can pull out into a queen-sized sleeping space (so along with the two single-berths in the Stateroom, you could comfortably sleep 4 people onboard). There is a ton of storage space, and a leaning seat in the Salon for the Captain. The Flybridge features a new Todd Cape Cod Model 1000 helm chair and rain cover. For navigation, included is a Simrad NSS Evo 3 chart plotter with 4G Radar and over 700 saved waypoints. There is also a Simrad in-hull transducer / fish finder. VHF radio is a new Standard Horizon GX2200 in the Salon with a Standard Horizon CMP31B microphone that connects down to the main unit in the Salon. The Galley is ready to be customized to suit your preferences! And the Stateroom features tons of storage space, a full mirror, very comfortable sleep cushions, and a bow hatch with a mosquito screen if you want to sleep with the stars and the sound of the waves.
