Hello All boaters from past and present the Gooz has been visiting the site recently to see if I can drum up some interest in a rendezvous in Miami as summer is here and many need to jump off to Bahamas from this point. Pascal can head up the welcoming committee as i think he frequents Eliot key craziness area.
I know we are all subject to weather so putting an exact date may be hard but I can make it mid June Fathers Day weekend? we plan to jump across to Bahamas then back in a couple weeks. Feel free to chime in on routes and passage ideas , I have done it a few times. A different boat and different times so all should be considered always.
We hope to make it as far as Exumas weather permitting, also if i don't get a mutiny from the kids. The plan is Bimini , Chub Kay, Nassau, Exumas then back.
Any info on closures, marinas , dredging, obstacles , warnings , and fun things not to miss,,,etc. are much appreciated.

Re: Miami jump to Bahamas passage
Great idea. Will be fun to all reconnect.
Our work schedule is always up in the air so hopefully we can make it. It s even more crazy now as the bosses have just upgraded to a 116 footer (brought it in a few days ago) and I m still handling the 84 which is under contract
As to your Bahamas trip, skip Bimini. Not worth it any more. What we do now is go straight to Chub and clear there then head out to the Exumas the next day. This way we can provision it all in Miami.
Keep track of the red flu requirements for the Bahamas it changes all the time.

We may be there too mid / late June. Depends how quickly I get the 116 up to speed.Pascal

Fam likes to keep it under 100 miles a day keeps everyone sane, we are only doing 10nks.
Sounds exciting about the boats 116ft seems like fun. I think everyone is stir crazy due to length of time with out vacation.CARL GUZMAN Worrying is interest on a problem that has not yet occurred

Re: Miami jump to Bahamas passage
well i did not get too many replies to meet at Miami so we flew by from key largo right to Bimini, then Nassau and Spanish cays , all the way to Staniel cay. thanks to Randy for me to make this crapy thread no one joined up for...
either way we had a blast i was just hoping to have some cruisers join in the venture. we did find some tag along by luck and meet some cool people.CARL GUZMAN Worrying is interest on a problem that has not yet occurred

Looks like fun.
Did the kids go along? I can't imagine how old they are now. It was years ago that you took us out on your 67 and they were just little then.Sky Cheney
