The guy that was WATCHING the boat was the bad guy.

The owner is not the Pedo!

    So that's good news.

The owner may not have known about it, to be fair.

Is guilt by association called for here? Do all of us with employees on our payroll want to take responsibility for the after work actions of everyone we have ever hired? Really?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever asked a prospective new-hire if they are a pedophile during a job interview? Would you expect them to answer in the affirmative if they were?

Have not found a perfect employee yet. Heck nor the perfect employer. Being self employed is close. The Almighty puts up with my crap. Interesting thread!

Many if not most owners run background checks on captains, especially these days. But unless the guy has a record, it s impossible to know. Same with alcohol abuse. Yeah there may be some signs but still can happen. Drug abuse are a little more difficult to hide since most captains are required to be on a random testing program.

Maybe it has been mentioned already, but it is standard that the survey comes after the offer. After the survey you can then cancel the offer due to your findings or renegotiate. They say they will start the engines and generator, but no sea trial or haul out is rough.

They say no survey, just a walk through. Very Odd.
