The Sheriffs investigation is more about the road than the driver: this location is notorious for wrecks. If the SUV was speeding then there is no reason to spend millions to redo the road, if he wasn’t then having a celebrity car crash may force their hand. Dozens of rich people have gone off the road there in the past two decades with no serious calls for a reconstruction of the road, but a famous rich person is different.

The new river is full of palm fronds and debris. I’ve sucked a palm frond in from 20’ away and it will bend the wheels.
