    The Sheriffs investigation is more about the road than the driver: this location is notorious for wrecks. If the SUV was speeding then there is no reason to spend millions to redo the road, if he wasn’t then having a celebrity car crash may force their hand. Dozens of rich people have gone off the road there in the past two decades with no serious calls for a reconstruction of the road, but a famous rich person is different.

    Gotcha, wasn't implying anything. There's indeed a lot of goofy roads in that part of the world....

    Appreciate everyones feedback on venturing up the new river. Lots of good information and tips. In addition, I spoke to the local Tow BoatUS folks and they provided the following. Passing along for anyone else who might be interested....

    The new river is full of palm fronds and debris. I’ve sucked a palm frond in from 20’ away and it will bend the wheels.
