    53 my bunks

Has anyone converted the dinette to a small bunk room for grand children ? Edward

AFAIK the dinette is already set up to convert to a lower berth that should handle 2 small grandchildren. Or buy a 54 ED or a 61 or 63 MY that has 4 staterooms.

Indeed the dinette converts to a double berth which isn’t that small at almost 6’ long (if you remove the backrests)

If you want to built a bunk room with two bunks the only way would be to have one bunk fairly low along the hull side and out the other one perpendicular, along the stairs. If you cut into the old cabinet there you can get close to 6’ long. Now in that setup both bunks would have enough headroom, except for the feet section of each bunk.

On my 53 I converted the dinette to a head, it s actually a pretty big space

There is a list of wasted space under the side deck

The key is to cut the cabinetry under the deck which waste a lot of space.

I was amazed at the amount of space behind my washer dryer when I pulled it out. Will be utilizing that after putting in a combi......

Not so much behind the washer which is against the hull at the bottom but behind the dryer. About 2’ or so. Almost worth it putting a door over the dinette behind the dryer and building enclosed shelves there

Same with the galley. They could have eliminated these useless cubbies behind the sink and pushed the countertop back almost a foot. That would have given an extra foot of floor space, more counter space. And a bigger fridge or more storage
