We had them in the engine room of a 49 Gulfstar MY, and never had a problem. I liked them so much that I used them when we converted an old Eagle Bus into a motorhome. No issues with that one either.

I've replaced a few covers over the years but they hold up well.

We use them in professional AV also.

Great access and a way to clean things up.

Re: Look at the ER on this '79 53C for sale in St Pete

Where is the engine room access on a 53C? Is that it on the far port side of the cockpit? I called the broker for just a couple of quick questions, and I lead with "are the rebuilds documented for review." Maybe it was just me, but he seemed agitated with me. I just got the old comment"it's a old boat, you should just come crawl around it and smell it? He did state that receipts were available and that the owner bought a Viking and was a mechanic, but not the rebuild mechanic. Maybe it's just too soon for me to shop, who knows. We will be in Tampa on the 4th for a week, so maybe we can take a look.

A quick search finds that the current owner has definitely improved the boat from it's last listing in 2015. It looks to have benefitted from her owner/operator of Right Choice Marine which I was told may now be closed, at least in it's past format/storefront.
