    Wheelhouse doors

1992 Hatteras 70’ Motor Cockpit both sliding doors stick badly. Any common fix?

    Re: Wheelhouse doors

When I had mine off to prep for paint I noticed the wood around the bottom rollers was worn and or had a bit of rot. I repaired with epoxy and installed new rollers: Problem solved

Your rollers may be bad. I’d pop them off and replace at least the bottom rollers. I’d did mine a few years ago. Now it takes one finger to move the doors. Sams sells the rollers.

    Re: Wheelhouse doors

You have to take the metal trim off the bottom next to the metal track. Move the door as far back as it goes and lift it up and pull out at the bottom. It takes two men to do this. The door is tall and heavy. We moved mine to the front of the boat and replaced the wheels on the cabin top above the galley. Take note the door will just fit under the eyebrow when you tilt the bottom out and the top inwards and lean against the side window. You’re going to find washers underneath each of the screws that hold the rollers in. Please take note of how many are under each screw. Some have two and somehow four to give it the right angle. Make sure you replace them exactly the same way you took them out.

    Re: Wheelhouse doors

Those are the aluminum doors on that boat, not wood, so disregard the above posts.

You can, however get parts from Sams for those doors.

Take a look at this older thread:

Tap on them, the sound of aluminum is very different than wood.
