I have a 1991 Hatteras 52 CMY with 8V92TA engines. I'm trying to identify a sensor/sending unit and its function. My port engine has a sensor/sending unit on the metal duct just forward of one of the turbos that has 4 wires connected to it.

The starboard engine has an oval shaped access in the same location but does not have a sensor/sending unit.

However, there is a wire harness in that location with 4 wires that are disconnected. IMG_20210113_092234354.jpg
I appreciate your expertise identifying this sensor/sending unit and its function so I can obtain one for the starboard engine if necessary. Thanks and best regards!

Re: 8V92 Part and Function
Could be a exhaust temp sensor.

Re: 8V92 Part and Function
It's an overtemp switch for your alarm system. It's designed to detect a loss of raw water flow before the engine overheats.
Someone more familiar with that system is going to have to explain the wiring. It's very different than mine. If it's the factory alarm system SAMs will likely have the correct replacement.--- The poster formerly known as Scrod ---
