I have a Galley Maid Windlass. Power up only. When I step on the foot pedal sometimes I can hear the relay clicking but nothing happens. Then try again and the windlass will start spinning. First thought is bad foot pedal. But it seems to close the circuit enough to put power to the relay.
Thoughts before I climb into the rode locker and start checking things out.

Re: Galley Maid Windlass
If the solenoid clicks i doubt it s the switch. Either the solenoid, wiring or motor. S

Re: Galley Maid Windlass
My first thought would be to check the solenoid and the connections to it as well as voltage. I had a similar situation where it was throwing the breaker and it turned out to be the rubber coupler connecting the motor and gear box. If voltage/amps are good try disconnecting the motor and see if it cycles consistently independent of the gear box. If so it is probably the connection or something in the gear box. If not I would bet on the relay or the connections to it.
