    Windshield frame primer

    1971 53 my windshield frames need painting. Not sure if frames are aluminum , stainless Steel or something else. Tried a non etching primer which failed miserably. Needs suggestions on what others have used. Plan on using interlude single part paint. Need to be able to bush as no spraying allowed for obvious reasons. Thanks

    The frames are aluminum. Whatever single component oil base you plan on using I’d recommend using the primer that they recommend.

    I would use self etching primer.

    I'm doing mine now. I removed them from the boat and media blasted them bare. I have four coats of awl grip 545 primer, sanded between coats then three coats of topcoat sanded with 400 between coats.
