I has a (very) ancient Encron Autopilot. I was looking at the hydraulic pump which is still plumbed into the steering lines and wondering if it could be just be swapped out for something current. The system isn't currently working and needs troubleshooting but given the old technology, hardly worth the effort, I would think. I am planning on something like the OpenCPN system and wondering what components I will need to make it talk to OpenCPN. Also, what sort of pump specs should I be looking for.

Re: NMEA 0183/2000 Autopilot pump?
I just did this- replaced an old/inop autopilot with a new Raymarine EV400. There’s probably a data plate on your old drive unit. If you can get the info off of that, it’s a surprisingly simple conversation with Raymarine to get to the right parts. Install was straightforward as I was able to reuse existing hydraulics and electrical.
