Where is a good place to buy a helm seal kit FTX HS-01, and bleeding
procedures for getting the rudder to work like new.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Helm seal kit for 1976 58*yachtfisher
There are Hynautic service manuals on the web that you can print out if you don’t have one. I would think that Sam’s would sell the seal kits. The kits usually come with extra o rings so you may have to do some matching. The back of the pump has to come off to remove a drive pin to get the shaft out. After you get your pump rebuilt pump the reservoir up to 30 lbs with a bicycle pump. Then turn the wheel 50 times to the left then 50 times to the right.

If you have a flying bridge and/or an autopilot, all of these have to be purged of air in the lines to avoid complete loss of steering. So it's 50-100 turns first clockwise, then counterclockwise, starting with the highest point, then down to the autopilot hydraulic pump you must run the same way.
You probably have a rudder ram bypass valve you can loosen which will greatly reduce the purging steering efforts.Jim Grove, Fanfare 1966 50MY Hull #22 (Delivered Jan. 7, 1966)
