    Re: Original Prices....

Here is a link to the whole 1971 lineup and prices.

I put it on FB since it takes way to long to upload here page by page. I also have it in a PDF but can’t upload it here... too big. If someone wants the PDF to upload somewhere, PM me your email

OK, based on that in 1971 a 53 was $162K, with a fly bridge and some goodies call it an even $180K.

A dollar in 1971 corrected for inflation is $6.37 today. So in todays dollars that 53 would set you back about $1.15M

    Cool. Thanks.

In 1973 am 58 YF, mine sold for $198,000. I have the invoice.
I also have an original 1973 price list, any requests?

    Re: Original Prices....

This is probably my favorite document I have on board my boat... an October 15,1970 work order for the Vosper Mini Fin Installation at Merrill Stevens here in Miami. Note the 4% Fl sales Tax I also have the detailed log book pages, first entry dated 3/11/70!

I have years or entries and repairs. Crazy how many times the boat was hauled out on the first few years and how many things had to be repaired

In Sept 1971 their replaces the wheels with nibral and noted 17kts @ 2150. Also early on there is an entry saying “trim tabs extended 4”

I think you can get a far easier comparison from your insurance company. On Aslan, they show replacement cost at about $2.5 million. So by my low brow intellect, that sort of valuation as a useful comparison of the value of a 50 year old boat is an exercise of dubious worth. Of course, that sort of valuation is of immense value when convincing your wife she needs half a yacht. What a deal!

I found the 65C price when Outrageous was being discussed. What a premium for MTU’s hard to believe a nearly 2 million dollar boat wouldn’t bring 40k in any reasonable condition
