    Let us introduce ourselves.....

Hello fellow Hatteras Enthusiasts. We wanted to introduce ourselves as I am sure We will be asking for some of your expertise. My name is Mike and my wife’s is Korrie. We have one teenage daughter Natalie and are in our early 40’s. We are in the middle of purchasing a series 1 53’ YF we will name “Kacie Rae” after our other daughter that lost her battle with cancer several years ago. We currently own a 67’ custom aluminum Pluckebaum coastal cruiser named the “Mountaineer”. We live on it at our families boat docks on The Ohio River 100 miles below Pittsburgh Pa in the state of WV where we conduct Real Estate and Construction business. From Oct - May we head south to Florida and live and boat out of St James City on Pine Island. That is where we will be keeping the new to us Hatteras. We have our own dock and will be keeping it behind our house which we will continue to rent Airbnb and stay on the boat. We plan on cruising mainly the gulf coast, and look forward to meeting some of you. Our Pluckebaum was going to be too big for South Florida and the type of boating we do, and we would have to move to land when I’m up north... In addition to an antique Hydroplane, I also own a 61’ Sternwheeler that I built Named the “Defendant” that I am currently repowering with a 6-53 Detroit and twin hydraulic pumps. I will post pictures and information on the Hatteras once we close the deal. Thanks for all of your help ahead of time, as reading the posts on here has helped us considerably already. Mike and Korrie

Welcome aboard. I’m sure we’ll cross wakes somewhere between point A and point B.

My condolences on the loss of your daughter. I can't imagine what it is like to lose a child. That kind of thing makes my heart hurt.

Moving forward,... Welcome aboard! Your other (really impressive) boating projects will require pictures, naturally. You've found a great home, and I'm looking forward to your contributions as well.

Thanks for the condolences, and the warm welcome folks. My daughter lived her life for the lord, and when things got bad, was never woe is me. I couldn’t be more proud of her. She would be tickled pink to know by naming our latest boat after her, it will be a great way to bring attention to childhood cancer, and her love of the Lord. I believe I have figured out how to attach photographs. Here are a couple of the Mountaineer, and one of the Defendant. We hope to finish this Hatteras deal up over the next 3 - 6 weeks, but the virus is slowing things up a bit. It is located on the other side of Florida from my home up near Jacksonville, so I will be making a trip down the coast a bit and across the Okeechobee waterway if depth allows, or down and around. I hope to be on the move within a month after taking possession. In that time I will prob fly up and down a few times to get the boat ready to move. I will need to change all the fluids, have the anodes and the bottom done, extensive detailing to the interior and exterior, etc. along with anything else that rear it’s head. I don’t want to get in a big hurry ( I have been on several delivery trips where everyone was in a big hurry and it sucked every time... remind me later to tell you all about the time stuck in Canada, and the disaster in the Welland canal ) but I don’t want to pay dock rent and travel expenses any longer than I have to. Thanks again for the warm welcome, and I look forward to seeing many of you somewhere on the water. Mike

"Stuck in Canada"? Surely you mean experiencing the joy of being in Canada?

I would love to see that paddlewheeler. Looks very much like one I saw on the Illinois River in a marina a few weeks ago, but it wasn't it anywhere near that nice of shape. It definitely caught my eye as it would make one heck of a liveboard, or floating BNB deal.

Canadian Border patrol made sure we had tons of fun... “ Give us your passports, and get face down in the gravel while we tear the boat apart looking for contraband as he snapped a rubber glove on his hand”...
