Re: Dogs on Boats
Our small dog was fine at dock or anchor, but fire up those 8-92's and he would cry and shake.
Tried a "Thunder shirt" but that did not help. Talked to the vet and she prescribed 'doggie downers'. That worked.

Re: Dogs on Boats
What "Avenger" said in post #2 is exactly what we did with our Jack Russell Marlie. We also use crates with every dog we have ever had and we have a small plastic travel crate which she loves.
Marlie has worked her way on up and now loves the motion and especially the sounds of our Detroits!
The only problem now with Marlie is she loves to jump into my lap while steering, puts her pawls on the wheel and tries to take over.
So...I am working on teaching her how to give me bathroom breaks!

We picked up Pako today here in Mexico, he is 3 months old. He is already taken command of the salon and cockpit.

Re: Dogs on Boats
Would Anybody care for stories of kat prides that cruised the Abacos, Tortugas, Fl Kays, Cross FL and many trips up & down FLs east coast for the last 16 years?
Or is this just a puppy channel?
BTW, We luv puppies also. Always treats in da van..

Re: Dogs on Boats
We've got a Golden Retriever and a Black Rhodesian Ridgeback... they both LOVE boat rides and the water in general. They overnight well, but insist on doing "the bidness" on shore!

Re: Dogs on Boats
Slow steps and start them young if you can. Our prior Gordon took a few trips to get to the point of enjoying the boat. Our current girl started young, now the boat is part of her territory.

Re: Dogs on Boats
Our dogs are the first aboard and the last off. Poopin time keeps us busy though. Fortunately on the inside passage we’re never too far from a beach.
