There is a hole in the side of one engine block that when you shine a flashlight in it you see the light beam on the opposite wall of the engineroom. A colleague of mine did this and had a witness. She needs an MTU replacement engine. Not cost effective IMHO given the condition of the rest of this boat.

Didn't someone post for a sporty with no engines?

Such a deal could be made.

For the price of one MTU you might be able to get two Caterpillar 3412Es, maybe?

A 65 sportfish is an incredible boat, very sad to see it hurting. A repower is required but there is no such thing as a free boat. Perhaps someone with a big heart and bigger wallet will come to the rescue.

Unhappy Re: Thank you HOF but you couldn’t save her!

It's very sad to hear that the motor went out so catastrophically.
Just curious, does anyone know which engine went? I was looking over the old "For Sale" adds, from when the OP was selling it, and I believe it stated one engine had been rebuilt.

I think this would be an awesome battle-wagon, with newer power in it. Hopefully someone saves it.

    Happy 4th of July weekend!

For the cost of saving that old gal you could buy a much newer, faster one......

It can be repaired...has been done before, even on backup engines at nuclear power plants.

Price drop to 49k. Someone is getting more realistic.

Would you trust that repair hundreds of miles from the nearest port with your family on board?
Besides, if it threw a rod out of the block the crank is almost certainly trash....

Add in all the while-you're-in-theres to a repower with C-32's or MTU's and add in everything else you would want to do to bring the boat back and you're looking at $500k-$700k easy.
And it would still be slow and old fashioned compared to what that money can buy.
