I have heard of some Johnson & Towers 671n's turning up to 3000rpm but I have not heard of 8v71's governed that high.

Re: Pretty Much Loaded And Ready To Go... Again
Thanks for the phone conversation, Sky. I’ve GOT TO figure the fuel burn on this thing before we make a 150 mile run to Racine in the morning.

Re: Pretty Much Loaded And Ready To Go... Again
3000 is way too high. Even at no load it shouldn't be up there. I don't think no load would be above 2500 but what do I know?

Re: Pretty Much Loaded And Ready To Go... Again
Checked the gauges, and both tanks are showing over 3/4. Guess we’ll go for it. If you guys don’t see me post by 9PM, tell the Coasties our route. I’ll start working on making Robby’s flag into a sail.

Re: Pretty Much Loaded And Ready To Go... Again
This boat has 8v71Ns, right? I thought they were governed to a max high idle of 2500 revs. I have never heard of them turning 3000 revs and I wonder how long they would hold together at speeds like that.

Re: Pretty Much Loaded And Ready To Go... Again
Yep, 3,000 is unnatural for a natural! Had to get tickled at the sea trial report that stated the engines smoked above 2,500. I’m sure they did, in more ways than one!! LOL
There has to be a logical explanation for the weirdness in numbers, but we just want to get her home. Robby can have someone figure things out after that.Randy Register - Kingston, TN
