1981 Hatteras CPMY - Exhaust Leak in 8" Rubber Connection Tubes

What is up with brand new 8" Trident rubber connection tube leaking.
Replaced original blistered tubes with new 8" Trident Blue Stripe tubes and brand new clamps.
Still getting leak. Randomly leaking from both ends.

Both ends of the 8" fiberglass tubes were cleaned, sanded and resurfaced with several coats of West Systems epoxy, so as not to have any residual corrosion left. These refinished tubes insert into the connecting tube at least 5" on either end and using up to 4 3/4" clamps.

    Still getting some leaking !!!???

Anyone with any ideas, please let me know, this has been so frustrating!

Just to be clear, by “refinished tube inserts”, you mean stainless steel inserts to prevent the clamps feom cracking the fiberglass, right?

What corrosion are you referring to, I m not sure how you d have corrosion on a fiberglass tube from a hose.

    Can you post pictures ?

Pascal you need to reread the post. Nowhere does it say "refinished tube inserts" It says "refinished tubes insert" The corrosion was what had built up from the original leak between the fiberglass and old rubber tube.

sounds like you need stainless crush sleeves inside the fiberglass tubes
