Electro scan is the current version. Know it well. Sell some too. I just refrain from servicing them after use.

The center bow holding tank is 105 gal. And there is a starboard tank (under the dinette in the bilge) that holds 60 gal. After looking at the blueprints for the engine electrical system, the 60 gal tank is just in front of the generator muffler, under the dinette.

The master and bow heads use the 105 gal tank, and the guest head uses the 60 gal tank.

I am kind of amazed that the master head pumps all the way to the bow tank.
Our boats only a year apart, I find it hard to believe that you have an additional 40 gallons of holding tanks. They were in the same location as mine so maybe my information is incorrect. Do you have it written on the specs?

Mine are the same. 60 gallon stbd gen room and 105 fwd bilge area for a total of 165. From 1978 on that would be the standard. I'm not sure on the pre-1978 boats.

It is on the front specs page, 165 gal, and in the blueprints, 105 and 60.

1970 was really a different era. Nothin mr in the blueprints, nothing in the manual about holding tanks. I guess it was dealer installed then

    Re: Holding Tank Capacity 53MY

From what I have read, holding tanks were standard after 1972 and some boats from 1972 had tanks already, but they weren't hooked up and didn't show on the prints.

    Re: Holding Tank Capacity 53MY

If you believe all the answers here, it sounds like Hatteras did not have much standards for holding tanks. I know they modified lots of things on these boats over the years and it appears that holding tanks were one of them.

    Re: Holding Tank Capacity 53MY

I think some of the answers are incorrect. I'll bet if you 53/58 owners actually figured the volume of your two tanks you will find that they are all 105 fwd and 60 stbd. I don't see Hatteras changing the molds for these tanks once they started making them.

To calibrate my Heart Tank tender, I actually metered water into my tanks through the pump-out fittings. I know mine are indeed as the owners manual states.
