Thread: 60MY Air Draft

There is no way those numbers that Hatteras provided can be right. Problem is, the area behind the arch is not much shorter than the windscreen.

I would rather have an exact measurement.

In looking back at that photo, there’s no way we’ll get down to 15’6”, but we should (key word) be able to fit via Oswego if we remove everything from the arch. Water levels on the canal will be the key there.

You'll have to let some air out of the tires, that will gain you a few inches.

And you think the clearance scale on the side of the bridges is accurate? Years ago I remember a sailboater lost a mast they went back and measured the bridge and the scale was incorrect.

2 radars tract vision and all the other stuff plus drop the mast? That’s a big job. I wouldn’t have a warm and fuzzy about letting it hang by the wires.

    Re: 60MY Air Draft

First, I’ll sneak up on any questionable bridge (in reverse if there’s room) to make sure I’ll fit. I’ve been told there are no gauges on the bridges in the canals. They control the water depth and shut down the canal if it gets too high to manage.

Nothing will be left dangling as everything will be removed. The big radar antenna isn’t hooked to anything, and the new one is an Ethernet cable. Dave is going to check everything and will install quick disconnects if needed.

LOL. I do the same thing with my half empty water bottle when there's an FNG sitting next to me..... Most of the time they're smart enough but sometimes they eat it hook line and sinker. Of course at 35,000 feet with a buildup 60 miles away that doesn't work, as the earth is not flat. You're not a flat earther are you? And yes, at 7000 feet in a 172 it's a different story.
