Just finalized a purchase of a 1979 43DC. Boat is currently stored inside for winter. I have a 40’ slip where I kept my previous boat. Was told by Marina that slip could accommodate up to 43’, but I have my concerns. I believe she is 40’ LWL. Thought I’d go to those with experience. Any thoughts would b appreciated. Thanks-Pete

Re: Slip size for 43DC
Consider it is 46' long with the swim platform.

Re: Slip size for 43DC
Officially, per the graving plan blueprint, our 1972 43DC is 48’ LOA including swim platform and bow pulpit.

Re: Slip size for 43DC
It all depends on what the marina will allow. Nearly all marina allow for boats to stick out, sometimes by 10’ others may have a lower hard limit. Find the actual length incl pulpit and platform and see if they ll accept it

Re: Slip size for 43DC
Thank you all for input. The Marina has agreed to accommodate us in the 40’ slip. One of my concerns is will I run out of dock (bow in) prior to where you board, which is located quite a bit aft. I’m hoping that I can do some measuring when I get into the storage barn. Otherwise I may just go stern in...or look for larger slip.

Re: Slip size for 43DC
Robert, Thank you-this is awesome! And thanks to all for your help. Hoping it’s not a mute point, most of our docks on coastal LM ports are nearly underwater, with water rising...

Re: Slip size for 43DC
I have a 43' DCFB and I am in a 40' slip.
I have to back my boat into the slip in order to board the boat. I also have a bow pulpit and swim platform.

This is not a sailboat and you re not in California. back it in ... unless the view is better or the dock is real busy with too many people walking up and down
