    Re: Winter Project Begins

The ramp worked GREAT! I miscalculated the lift I needed, so I'll have to cut the ramp lip away. The genny is at the bottom of the ramp, and I hoisted it off the ramp, but it won't quite clear the lip.. Tomorrow I'll cleanup the genny room, cut away the lip, then down the hole!

    Re: Winter Project Begins

Today reminded me of the old Get Smart show... missed it by that much! It missed clearing the lip by less than an inch! In a way it was a good thing. Now I'm positive this is going to work, and tomorrow will be a relaxed, no pressure day. This is a DIY project for the adventurous. I've been in some tough spots in my life, and being the target of hostile fire was one of the more nerve racking events. Jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft in total darkness is a little stressful. Piloting a single airplane and having engine failure ranks up there. But hauling around this big hunk of steel ranks right up there on the nerve racking scale. There is nothing technical, or particularly skillful about this project, and if you can do basic engineering math, and run a skilsaw, anybody can do this project... but the load on my nerves reminds me that I've had too many birthdays to try this one again. Down hill from here.
