Thread: Onan starter

    Onan starter

Anyone have an MHP-7101T starter they want to part with? It's the 24v CW rotation 10 tooth direct drive version. Looks to have been on 5/10/20 kw units

bring your old one to a motor repair shop, the can either repair it or find a replacement, my alternator on my onan 17.5 crapped out, i priced one from onan at around 675.00 the local motor shop said that rebuilding mine was not worth the cost, about 165 dollars, they got me a brand new alternator for 176.00 same brand as the one that came off of the generator

I've been to three local starter shops and all claimed to not be able to get parts and offered no replacement

This fits mdl4/6 perhaps yours. Mitsubishi M002T65771. Bout $100 it's 24v but works fine with 32v and the manual notes that the 24v is fine with 32v.
This one is your model on eBay for $185 https://www.ebay.com/itm/MEP002A-MEP...-/264227807160

that is the type II gear reduction. I bought that type starter from southern automotive and it won't work on my generator, the body of the starter is too tight on the block and won't allow the starter to tighten down

thank you for the response. I plan to buy the direct drive starter southern automotive offers on eBay but he won't be back from vacation until after the first of the year. We are leaving the Carolinas Jan 11th to take the boat home, I was hoping to have the boat ready to go by Jan 1st

Never discount that the part removed, may have been the incorrect part. What model onan generator and what voltage starter.. 12v or 24v.
