    Helm rebuild

52 years and never touched my bridge helm started leaking yesterday. I tried to get the shaft extension off before to have it Re chromed but it would not budge in place. I have the newer hynautic on the tower that I’ve rebuild 5 times in the last 30 years. This thing is a beast compared to that one. Seals look pretty std hydraulic parts.

I replaced my copper tubes with flexible tubes. Makes it a lot easier removing it in the future. You are correct, it is a beast.

Put a newer hynautic helm there. The weight savings could get you 2 kts.
