May have the opportunity to get a nice set of 3208 running take outside. Anyone seen these in a 34' Hatt? I am ok with raising the engine hatches.... I may have to act quick to get the deal on these so any input is greatly appreciated.

They should, but it's tight. Are they turbos? That would complicate things.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes they are turbos. What way are they tight?

Seen them in a 67 which has tiny bit more vertical height but they were shoehorned in. But that really doesn’t matter much as these are 100% devices with hatches opened. Just make the inner main hatch supports removable.

My iPhone can’t correct previous post. Meant to say serviced, not devices.
Gawd I hate spellcheck changing wording!

The problem is getting them under the deck at the front of the engine. a down angle gear helps. Check the heat exchanger tanks and oil pans. both are stamped steel and subject to corrosion.

3208s are good engines, but they are a BIG item to stuff into a 34 Hatteras. They are also very heavy, and at this point in time they are all very old. Fortunately rebuilds are not too expensive. I think if funds permit you might try to find a smaller and more powerful engine.

Re: Will 3280 fit in 1963 34' convertible?
Thanks for the quick replies. I currently have 440 big block chryslers. How much does a 3208 weigh? The Chryslers are obviously lighter but they do take up quite a bit of space with the manifolds and risers. Wish I could find some pics of 3208's in a 34'.
