A somber reminder that it's not always fun and games running this time of year. Would have never expected this in the bay, even a big one like Pamlico. Heard news of this last night via Facebook but assumed they were offshore.

Re: Hilton Head To Annapolis
I have traversed the Chesapeake (the long way) more than once in freezing weather. Uphill both ways. Outside at the helm of a sailboat. Installed a heavy duty 12V outlet at the helm seat and bought a heated vest from the motorcycle supply people. Of course a heated wheel house makes that unnecessary, but if for some reason you're stuck up top it's something to consider.
Also, we all know that useful consciousness in the water at this point is not enough. Poopie (survival) suits by Mustang and others are required equipment for some operations and they have a shelf life. You can buy them expired but unused on eBay all day long for $250-$300 I had a few of them on board. Cheap insurance should plans A-D fail.1978 53' Motor Yacht "LADY KAY V"

Re: Hilton Head To Annapolis
Sounds like these guys had everything needed (for most cases) but it still wasn't enough. One thing's for sure, we won't be running at night in the sound, and it is EXTREMELY unlikely we'll run outside the ditch, especially with winds like those.
Hopefully the one guy will make it and be able to tell the tale.Randy Register - Kingston, TN

OK no problem. Just means the ten guests who come after you won't get anything to eat.
JK show up and do your wurst. I mean worst.

Re: Hilton Head To Annapolis
Weather delay but made it to the connecting gate with 15 minutes to spare. Two hours sitting on the tarmac but should be on time for HH.

Made it to the boat that is exceptional condition. I’ll see if the owner is okay with posting pics later. Will be heading out bright and early tomorrow. Weather is beautiful!
