The Bird is going to be late for dinner. He’s probably going to need to do some laundry, too.

Well, the trouble-free delivery only had one more day to go, but it just wasn’t meant to be. It was absolutely brutal out there today, and long story short, we had to limp in after some electrical issues. Scott aka boatsb talked me through a few things, and we’re good to go tomorrow.

All in all, it was the day from hell, but it all turned out okay.

Dang! I forgot about dinner (thinking last night’s burger may have been my last meal), but now Jim can buy me dinner tomorrow night!

I know he was REALLY looking forward to that! One of those, silver lining and cloud things.

Well, if that’s not the sorriest reader’s digest version, then I don’t know what is. You left out the Coasties, playing with the EPIRB, losing both engines and the genny, the 6-8 footers, the bilge alarm, and how you got to try out the lifejackets. And then there was the big ole clean up inside and out.

I’m trying to be respectful of the owner’s privacy as he’s an HOF’er too.

The only playing with the EPIRB was to move it from the bridge to the cockpit. I’ll come up with a more detailed version for the HOF later, but it was definitely an eventful day. I was in contact with the Coasties after losing one engine and getting an alarm from the high water pump. Ended up getting the engines fired again (loose grounds) and the Coasties escorted us to the nearest marina about 15 miles away. They were awesome.

A big THANK YOU to my good friend and diesel guru, Scott Bickwid aka boatsb for troubleshooting the issue. Would have never expected a ground issue to kill both engines, generator, and electronics, but it did. We should be good to go now with 75 miles left to finish.

    Is that better?

Weather forecast was the same as yesterday (2 feet), so we decided to stay put. We both have a newfound appreciation for heat and just sitting on the boat. Tomorrow is supposed to be much better.

Probably that engine space heat is more than welcome.

Worked my way in and out of that bay in the teens a few times. I feel your pain.

Had to get tickled at the lady who runs the marina. She said she heard the whole thing on the radio and complimented me on being calm, clear and precise. Funny part was one of our dock mates asking what the deal was with our boat.

I guess it did look pretty funny to see two USCG RIB’s with blue lights flashing, escorting a sportfish into the marina and then boarding it.

Seems there’s a good seafood restaurant right down the street, so we’re going to check it out.

I recall going through the part of the Bay where the Potomac comes in from the West. Always choppy and miserable from all I remember. even on a good day.
