    Heat Rejecting Window Film

Recently had the folks from Z-Kool come out to the boat and price their patented silver coat window film for the lower helm. Let's just say the price given was rather high. Correction, it was crazy high.

Today, I did an online search for DIY options and my eyes just glazed over with all the choices.

What I want is a high performance window film that is mostly clear. Not interested in 1 way mirror effect or heavy tinting.

    Any recommendations?

    Z-Cool or V-Cool ?

I ve had V-Cool installed on the 3 forward skylounge glass panes of the 84 Lazzara i run. About $500 for each panel although it s pretty effective and absolutely transparent

    V-Cool.

They wanted just under $2000 for the lower helm station.

I know their product is good, but for 2 grand I can run my AC for a long time.

I had a car tint guy use one of these.

We put up 3 test strips, and picked one. Did the same on our western windows at home.

Did the whole salon and pilot house doors for around $1k. Some years ago. Love it.

Yeah but no good in forward glass for enclosed helms. V Cool is transparent and doesn’t affect night vision

    Re: Heat Rejecting Window Film

The side windows are not that hard to do yourself, though the forward windows are a bear to get to. We cover our front windows when docked anyways, and heat isn't an issue while running.

    Re: Heat Rejecting Window Film

I think 3m makes a transparent film that blocks out the heat but doesn't affect visibility at all. I remember somebody saying only dealers can install it. It recall it being slightly more expensive than tint.

My plan was to get some installed on the hatt and my RV

I had that installed on an i3 a few years ago, including the front window. It comes in various shades with the lightest being essentially clear. Very happy with the results.
