    Are you sure that the water won’t pass through the toilet and pump and thus fill the black water tank? Our toilets were converted to freshwater by using 5gal buckets as reservoirs. Unfortunately the one in the stbd engine room had a water level a bit above the bowl and it gravity fed into the toilet and overflowed the black water tank, twice! Removing the reservoirs and adding solenoid valves fixed our problem.

    If water passes the bowl w/o flushing, it’s an indicator of the need of a new stator.
