Those are okay, actually. I don't think we have any fat admirals who would complain about such a post. I'm sure I'll hear of it, if they do.

Re: I need accurate weight of my 41c

Moving forward with this project, the lift manufacturer I plan to use says 35,000lb is the largest he likes to make because 40,000lb gets much larger on beams.

HOF brains, ya think 35k is plenty for my old 41?

The issue is always, what about a bigger boat?!? Inside width between the lift piling is about 17-18foot.

33 to 35k with the original 8v53 detroits.

I'd say 35k is too close to chance

I used to have some load cells from a truck scale. Wonder if you could make a DIY scale?

Re: I need accurate weight of my 41c

If it were me I would play it safe and plan for more weight (a bigger boat). But it would depend on cost weather I would buy one or not. If the 40,000 lb weight costs $2,000 more than a 35,000 lb lift I would go ahead and buy the larger capacity lift. If it was $20,000 more I would not. If you do decide to buy one please take photo's of it being built and installed and share it on the forum.

Re: I need accurate weight of my 41c

Closer you match the lift capacity to the actual boat weight, the more accurate you will need to position boat on lift to not overload one of the hoists.
cg of boat will move some dependent fuel, water, and how you load boat also.

Re: I need accurate weight of my 41c

    Is factory weight data available?

This could be that excuse to unload all those spares, tools, BBQ equipment, chairs, etc, etc from the bilges.
If your close, this could help a bit.

I never did get an accurate weight, but my guess seems to be good enough.
