I was tidying up wiring between the OSR bedhead and transom today and came across this transformer. Its AC (with black and white wires) and goes to the single switch below the black button. Unfortunately the label has deteriorated.
Ideally I'd like the transformer removed as its AC terminals are exposed. The switch does nothing that I can determine, but all the wiring is connected.
Does anyone know the transformer is for? The words "Signal Transformer" is legible on the label. (Is it to do with the old "piped music system?)

Re: What is this transformer?
See if you can read the voltage on the transformer. Primary is probably 220vac for Australia. If secondary is 12 or 24vac then I would guess that is for lighting. Rope lights maybe? I think the old intercom type music systems were 70vac.
Thanks,
Tony
